National Skill Training Institute (W), Trichy offers Industrial Skill training under Craftsmen Training Scheme(CTS), Instructor Skill training under Craft Instructors Training Scheme(CITS), Demand-driven Short-term courses, Special programs for training the Instructors of ITIs ,Tailor-made courses as per industry’s demand. The Skill Training is provided through CTS (Craftsmen Training Scheme) and CITS (Craftsmen Instructor Training Scheme) courses under Vocational Training Programmes. Besides Long Term training, several short-term courses are also being conducted throughout the year in the field of Fashion Designing, Basic Tailoring, Beautician, Electronics, LED/LCD TV servicing, Mobile Phone servicing, Photoshop etc. based on demand. All the long term courses are conducted under DST (Dual System of Training) mode. The DST is an amalgamation of theoretical training imparted through ITIs and practical training imparted through the Industry. DST helps enable Industry linkages and provide hands on experience to students on industries latest/ updated technologies.

Established in 2015 by Directorate General of Training (WT) Under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt of India to provide Long term and Short term training programmes in various trades. Women’s Vocational Training Programme under Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship takes care of providing skill training to women in the country and aims at stimulating employment opportunities for social development, economic growth and empowerment of women. NSTIs (erstwhile NVTI/RVTIs) for women are set up mainly to produce women Instructors. These trained Instructors provide training to students through a network of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) all over the country. NSTIs for women have been set up keeping in mind the need of women belonging to lower income strata group and weaker sections of the society. Many practices like raw material, merit-cum-means stipend / scholarship, hostel facilities etc. have been adopted to attract these girls and women for skill training. |
